Leading up to the event, we coordinated with VCH's long term care leadership team to present the previous phase and develop the vision for the event. I was a part of the team that was tasked with developing engaging activities that could be facilitated during the event and all necessary materials.
Defining our key considerations kept the design aligned with the our collective goals as the range of attendees experiences and opinions' would be diverse. After the first set of ideations, we tested the activities with our VCH partners and adjusted as a group.

Based on the style established in Phase 3, the final version of our workshop centred on collaging and the visual of a bird to represent people.
Activity One. A series of standing cards containing the 5 themes and relevant questions with a facilitator initiating the discussion after the video presentation. The standing cards remained to keep the themes accessible to participants.
Activity Two. A large poster of a home containing typical infrastructure found in the care home served as a backdrop for the discussion. Participants would pick a room, and then a card from the "How Might We?" card deck that contained a question on how the group might reimagine the selected room.
Activity Three. The last activity was a three part exercise.
The roots. The group considers the history of what makes up their respective care home.
The home. We consider the home as it currently is: "What are the voices in your home saying? What are some supports established in your care home that we can bring to our vision care home?"
The tree. We think of the future: "What kind of feelings do we want to foster in our home? What do we imaging the culture of care to look like in the future?"
A facilitation guide was developed to supplement the events activities to help facilitators lead the activities on the day of the event. Training sessions were held at the Health Design Lab to introduce the facilitation guide to the VCH leadership team as well as the designated facilitators.
